Dental Crowns Can Restore The Look, Strength and Appearance of Your Teeth!
Dental crowns restore the appearance and chewing function of a worn or broken tooth. Shaped and tinted to match your natural teeth, crowns fit over the teeth, protecting the remaining structures. If you have a weak or broken tooth and need a dental crown
, schedule a consultation
with Walden Dentistry for tooth restoration. Dr. Walden or Dr. Beavers may recommend crowns for the following:
- Protect weak or eroded teeth
- In combination with root canals or dental implants
- Bolster teeth with little remaining tooth structure due to breakage or decay
- Cover stained or oddly shaped teeth
- Restore fractured or broken teeth
- Replace large fillings that are failing
Placing a Dental Crown
Crowns are traditionally placed in two visits. In the first visit, Dr. Walden or Dr. Beavers
will evaluate the tooth to rule out the possibility of a root canal and ensure that your tooth is healthy enough to support a crown. He will then prepare the broken tooth by removing any decay and filing it down to a core structure. Impressions of your mouth are taken and will be used to design your crown. Fabrication takes roughly three weeks, during which time you will wear a temporary crown.
When you return for the placement of your permanent restoration, Dr. Walden or Dr. Beavers will remove the temporary crown, clean your tooth, and check the fit of your new crown. Your new crown will then be bonded onto your tooth structure with dental cement for a secure hold.
CEREC, the Alternative to Traditional Crown Placement
Dr. Walden and Dr. Beavers also offers CEREC
, a technology that allows him to create a customized crown and permanently place it in just one office visit. CEREC crowns are made of a beautiful metal free ceramic and milled right in our office utilizing CAD software.
